The company was started in 1983, when Thomas M. Smith recognized that propane buyers were looking for a different type of supplier. Armed with an extensive retail background, Tom recognized a need for a wholesale propane supplier that could consistently provide propane buyers with a competitive price, reliable supply, and friendly personal service. The idea was to not only offer a product, but also delivery in a timely, safe manner directly to the buyer's location. With just one call, Smith Gas Liquids would take care of purchasing the supply, and delivery to the buyer's tank at the requested time.
